Eid Mubarak 2020

Today, in Malaysia, Muslims are celebrating the Eid, which marks the end of the Ramadan month. The day that starts the meeting of relatives from far and family members, old friends and colleagues.

However, due to the new norm set for Covid 19 crisis, that has affected Malaysia as well, the celebration of Eid is done with limitations.
Today, we are free to travel to visit our families living near us. Intrastate travel is allowed today for Eid celebration. Everyone should adhere to the new norms such as the use of face cover,  maintain a distance of 1 meter from each other, wash hands often. No shaking hands, no kissing, no touching, no close conversation allowed. Preferably to take care of our elders and children as they seem more vulnerable to the Covid 19.

Chicken Aqda with Rice

Chicken Aqda with Rice is a Yemeni dish normally served in most Arabic restaurants in Malaysia.

The Chicken Aqda is delicious and served hot. The taste is very good, and looks very big in

serving size but once started to eat you cannot stop.

The below photo is the  Chicken Aqda with rice which I enjoyed at Bamboo Rice and Bbq Restaurant, Shaftsbury Square, Cyberjaya.

The Chicken Aqda ingredients are:


1) half a pound of beef/chicken cut into medium sized chunks 
2) one big onion  
3) a small tomato diced 
4)  1 tablespoon of minced garlic 
5) 1 tablespoon minced ginger 
6) 4 tablespoons of olive oil 
7) 1  green chillie quartered lengthwise 
8) 1\2 tsp of chillie powder
9) 1 tsp of ground cumin 
10) 1 tsp of ground coriander 
11) 1/2 tsp of turmeric 
12) 1/2 tsp of peppercorns 
13) 3-4 cloves of cardamon 
14) 5-6 whole cloves 
15) a pinch of ground cloves 
16) 1/8 tsp of ground cardamon
17) potatoes (optional)
